What we do

At the Sahel Public Diplomacy Centre (SPDC), we focus on advancing Africa’s role in international relations through research, dialogue, and advocacy. Our research helps build a deep understanding of African people’s perceptions and social dynamics in relation to global engagement. Through webinars, conferences, and summits, we create platforms for meaningful dialogue between African communities and the world. Additionally, we advocate for the active participation of African people in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring their voices and aspirations drive the continent’s development and global cooperation efforts.

Research

At the (SPDC), our research in public diplomacy plays a critical role in understanding and shaping how Africa engages with the world. Through rigorous studies and opinion polls, we explore public perceptions of foreign influence and brand image in Africa, with a special focus on how African communities view and engage with external diplomatic, economic, and cultural entities.

People-Centered Dialogue

Our approach to dialogue is rooted in the belief that lasting solutions come from the people themselves. Our people-centered dialogue ensure that the voices of African communities are at the forefront of international discussions on diplomacy, development, and peacebuilding.

SDGs Advocacy

Our advocacy focuses on empowering African people to take an active role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by using our unique Contextual SDGs Framework. We believe that global goals must be adapted to reflect the local realities, values, and aspirations of African communities, ensuring that development efforts are meaningful and effective at the grassroots level.

Diaspora Engagement

We recognize the vital role that the African diaspora plays in fostering mutual understanding between Africa and the world. Our diaspora engagement efforts are focused on promoting the active involvement of African communities worldwide in shaping Africa’s development and diplomacy.

Citizen-to-Citizen

At the Sahel Public Diplomacy Centre (SPDC), we believe that diplomacy and development are not only the responsibility of institutions but also of the citizens themselves. Our Citizen-to-Citizen Engagement initiative connects African individuals with their counterparts around the world to build stronger global relationships and foster mutual understanding. By engaging everyday people, students, entrepreneurs, activists, influencers, women, members of parliament, and artists, we create a platform for diverse voices to shape Africa’s global narrative and contribute to the continent’s development.
